There are 5 icensed professionals who I work with at South County Child and Family Consultants. Each has a different degree and each has specific things that they specializse in . Psychiatry involves obtaining your doctorate degree, and you have medical training, which allows you to prescribe medicine to patients, otherwise a therapist or counselor must reffer their client to see someone else for medication.

An LMFT and an LMHC are quite similar in that they often have clients ranging from ages 5-70, but a LMHC will be sought out for more genaral counseling while the LMFT deals with more internalized family or interpersonal issues between couples or friends. Dr. Abraham typically is seen for people who need psychological assessments of mental health and typically has clients whom are bipolar, depressed, or diagnosed with anxiety issues. Dr. Kulman only see's people up to age 21 or in college, and does more educational evaluations of children. He typically is one to diagnose someone with ADD or ADHD or other learning disabilities, and involves administering testing and dictating summarized reports of his observations and findings. Often, they all work in conjunction, reffering their clients to others in their office for evaluations or other kinds of counseling that they may not be able to deal with. When someone who Sue thinks may need to have educational or neuropsych testing, she would refer them to set up an appointment with Dr. Kulman, and if she thought they mad need medication or a psychological evaluation, she would refer him to Dr. Abraham, and vice versa.

They all work together in creating a safe and caring environment. Often, a person who comes in may need  a combination of things and there is almost always someone at this office that can help them out.
